Cheng Lin, RDH - Hygienist

Meet Cheng

Growing up, I have always been interested in the health care field. I studied health science during my undergrad years. And knew that I would like my line of work to make an impact on others.

By random chance, I was introduced by a friend into the dental field for simply a summer job. I quickly developed interest in dentistry and loved working with patients. That summer job turned into a permanent part time job which kept me engaged whenever I had time off from school. That’s when I knew that dentistry is my passion. I picked dental hygiene because I noticed the bond that hygienists have with their patients are irreplaceable. Regular hygiene visits are the key to helping patients stay healthy. I wanted to be a part of that.

Patient comfort has always been a priority of mine. I’ve always felt that good communication between patients and dental providers is the most important method to ensure patient comfort. Before any procedure, I always explain what I'm going to do, and listen to any concerns that patients may have. During procedures, I always check to see if the patients are doing ok. I make sure patients feel comfortable enough to ask for breaks if needed. After the procedures, I always make sure follow up instructions are given and make sure that I am available to answer any questions or concerns.

I simply treat my patients like they are my friends and family. I believe that going to the dentist can be stressful for many people. Being professional yet approachable is the key to earn trust. When patients are under my care, I make sure to create a stress-free environment. I want my patients to feel free to ask me any dental related questions without hesitation.

I educate my patients based on their individual needs. I believe that everyone’s oral health status is different. Therefore, patient education shouldn’t be “one size fits all” either. My patient education generally involves mirror demonstrations, product recommendations, nutritional counseling, and answering any questions patients may have regarding any dental related procedures.

I currently hold a Bachelor degree for health science, an associate degree for Dental hygiene, and I am fully certified to administer local anesthesia including nitrous oxide.

I am a big foodie and enjoy exploring different kinds of foods. On my free time, I love going to different restaurants or cooking up a storm at home. I also love traveling and going on adventures. A fun fact about me is that I am bilingual, fluent in both English and Chinese (mandarin).
