Dental Cleaning Reviews
"Been living in the city for over 8 years; this is definitely one of the best dental offices I have found in the city. Unlike other dental offices, this office doesn't push unnecessary fees, which is amazing. I am a regular patient with Dr. Ajay Malhotra. Every time I have visited, he has taken great care of me. Seen him for a few dental cleanings and fillings. He also managed my Invisalign journey. I couldn't be happier. Highly recommend!"- I.D. / Yelp / Jul 08, 2019
"I actually looked forward to my Invisalign visits with Dr. Galler and Natasha; they were both an absolute pleasure to work with. I can tell you that this was not at all expected, especially since this was not my first rodeo with orthodonture. I got my final set of trays within 11 months, and I only regret that I am unable to post my before and after photos of the wonderful work they did on my teeth! I now have my regular dental cleanings at this office as well- the same level of professionalism and excellence carries on with the other dental hygienists. I cannot recommend them more highly for any dental need."- M.O. / Google / Dec 03, 2015

Best Candidates for Dental Cleaning
Our dentists and hygienists adhere to the recommendation by the American Dental Association (ADA) that patients have their teeth professionally cleaned every six months. More frequent dental cleaning visits may be recommended by our experienced team to best serve individual oral health and treatment needs. Young children also benefit from routine preventive care and should visit the dentist for the first time around the ages of 2 – 3. Following their initial visit, our dentists will help parents decide when to schedule their child's next visit.
All individuals should have their teeth cleaned on a regular basis to remove plaque and tartar from the teeth. These deposits harbor harmful oral bacteria, which can lead to the development of tooth decay and periodontal (gum) disease. Dental cleanings also minimize surface stain from tea, coffee, and other products and can help to freshen the breath while brightening the smile. Maintaining a routine dental cleaning schedule with our leading team at PDADental can also serve to reduce treatment needs down the road while saving patients from future expenses and time spent in the dental office.
What To Expect with Dental Cleaning
Dental cleanings at PDADental are tailored to meet the needs of each individual patient and may include dental exams and x-rays as recommended by our dentists. We will also keep a close watch on your gums, screening for periodontal disease at regular intervals. Even when you practice excellent oral hygiene habits at home, plaque is continually forming and often calcifies into a harder substance known as tartar. Our dental hygienists will utilize ultrasonic and hand scaling instruments to gently yet thoroughly eliminate these substances from your teeth without compromising tooth structure. Once each tooth has been individually scaled, we will use a special polishing agent to help remove surface stains and create a smoother enamel feel. A fluoride treatment may be applied at the end of the visit to help strengthen teeth and protect against cavity formation.
Dental Cleaning Follow-Up
Dental cleanings are performed biannually for many New York City, NY patients. However, our PDADental team may recommend more frequent cleaning visits if you or your family have gum disease, are currently wearing braces, or other oral concerns. During your cleaning appointments, we will point out any areas that need more attention at home and show you personalized tips on how to best brush and floss to reduce the risk of cavities and gum disease. Additional tools or oral products may also be suggested to help you best care for your smile between dental visits.
Dental Cleaning Insurance Coverage
Dental cleanings are preventive prophylaxis services that are commonly covered by most dental insurances at least twice per year. Our trained billing team will review your plan and let you know of any potential out-of-pocket expenses, such as for additional cleanings that may be beneficial for your oral health. As a leading practice, PDADental accepts PPO insurance plans and will file your claim as a courtesy to you. If you incur personal costs for your care, please talk to our friendly team about your payment choices, including flexible financing through CareCredit®.
