Straight teeth bring more than just an enhanced cosmetic appeal to your smile. When the teeth are properly aligned, they are easier to brush and floss and less likely to develop cavities and gum disease. Biting, chewing, and speaking activities are also performed with greater ease and comfort. Invisalign clear aligners are an advanced alternative to traditional metal braces that may be ideal for teens, tweens, and adult patients. These practically invisible trays are removable and made of smooth, comfortable plastic and infused with patented technology that guides your teeth into their ideal locations over time. At PDA Dental, we are very fortunate to have one of the nation's top Invisalign providers under our roof who has successfully treated a range of orthodontic concerns with this system. Invisalign orthodontics is just one of the ways PDA Dental continues to bring world-class care to patients in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan, NY. We invite you to schedule a visit with our Invisalign dentist today to learn more about this advanced teeth-straightening solution.

Orthodontic issues may result from genetics, developmental problems, injuries, tooth loss, and parafunctional habits (like thumb-sucking during early childhood). Correcting problems, like bite misalignment, can help to minimize the risk of an array of oral health problems, including jaw pain, temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD), chipped and worn teeth, gum recession, and difficulty with eating and speaking abilities. Our Invisalign specialist may recommend this highly discreet clear aligners solution as an alternative to the challenges of traditional braces. However, some cases may still be best treated with a conventional approach to orthodontics care. Conditions commonly addressed with Invisalign include:
- Gapped teeth
- Crooked teeth
- Narrow arches
Invisalign may be an excellent solution for preteens, teens, and adult patients interested in straightening their smiles. While the clear aligners are kept in the mouth for 20 – 22 hours every day, even during sleep, they are removed before eating and to perform home care activities. Invisalign is a highly discreet option that allows many patients to undergo orthodontic care without others even realizing they are wearing braces.
Before and After Invisalign®
What To Expect
The Invisalign process aligns the teeth through a series of custom computer-generated trays. During your consultation, our team will take digital x-rays, pictures, and easy iTero intraoral impressions of your mouth, which our Invisalign specialist will use to custom-create your unique orthodontic treatment plan. This data will be shared with the Invisalign lab where your trays will be crafted. A few weeks later, we will have you return to PDA Dental to receive your aligners and learn how to use them. Each pair of trays is worn for 1 – 2 weeks, only to be removed for eating and oral hygiene efforts, and then traded out for the next aligner set in the series. Our team will schedule visits for you with our Invisalign dentist about every 4 – 6 weeks to monitor your tooth movement and treatment progress. Throughout the course of your care, these aligners will apply gentle pressure and gradually move your teeth into proper alignment. The time spent undergoing Invisalign treatment varies among individuals but generally lasts about one year.
After your orthodontic issues have been resolved and your Invisalign treatment is finished, you will begin the retention phase of your care. A new digital impression of your mouth will be taken in order to create your custom retainers. Made from the same comfortable, clear material as aligners, Vivera® retainers help to hold your teeth in their new positions as your jawbone stabilizes. Our Invisalign specialist will let you know how long your retainers should be worn and the best way to care for these appliances. We will be sure to evaluate your bite and tooth alignment during each of your routine cleaning and exam visits at PDA Dental.
Invisalign may be a covered benefit if your dental insurance plan includes orthodontic treatment. When you visit for your initial consultation, our administrative staff will provide you with an estimate of your insurance coverage and file your claim on your behalf. The team at PDA Dental wants your family to enjoy the benefits of a straight smile and offers easy payment solutions to help you cover any out-of-pocket costs.
